Empowering Nurses and Improving Care Through Better Understanding of Nursing

Marriott Renaissance Arts Hotel New Orleans
Hotel information

Renaissance Hotel exteriorFriday, April 15-17, 2011

Please plan on joining us for The Truth About Nursing's first annual conference! We'll be holding it in enticing New Orleans as part of our effort to help support the city as it gets back on its feet.

Come spend a empowering weekend that will help you return back home inspired to make the needed changes that will strengthen nursing at your workplace and improve patient care.

Meet the speakers

Donna Cardillo will help you present yourself as a first class professional.

Kathleen Bartholmew and Barbara Chamberlain will help you interact more effectively with troublesome colleagues and create more civil working environments.

Truth leaders Sandy and Harry Summers will help you improve public understanding of nursing by understanding the power of the media, the stereotypes it so often uses to present nursing and what we can do to improve nursing's image.

Ellen Ceppetelli will present her ground-breaking work in creating a nurse shadowing program so physicians can follow nurses, learn the value of our work--important building blocks on our path to create more collegial relations and better media about nursing.

Tony Allen and Harry Summers will help us learn how to grab the media's attention and get nursing into the media spotlight.

Leaders from Project 2012 will help guide us into empowering nurses into the ultimate policy making job--politics. With more nurses in office, nursing can't help but to get more of the funding it needs to save lives and improve health care.

And eight people will present enlivening stories on nursing empowerment in the fun format of Pecha Kucha-- 20 powerpoint or keynote slides for 20 seconds each. Please submit an abstract to present at our conference today!

Activities

Join us Friday night for cocktails and mingle with others who are determined to improve nursing's image in their hometowns. Then after dinner we'll hear Kathleen Bartholomew talk with us about working relationships and how we can improve them.

Saturday is a day for empowerment, learning how to change relationships, the media, and the world. Followed by a fun evening on a Riverboat Jazz Dinner Cruise on the Missisippi River where you can meet the speakers and leaders of the Truth.

Sunday morning we'll cap it off with learning how to educate decision makers and physicians at our institutions. Then Donna Cardillo will lead us out with clear steps to achieving our empowerment.

The conference will go from Friday April 15 at 3 pm, until April 17, 2011 at 11:45 am (Palm Sunday).
