Is transforming your health and personal image through weight loss one of your New Year's resolutions? We can help--and make it stick for life!
Helping nurses transform their health and personal image for life Nursing often involves emotional stress and physical demands, elevating cortisol, all of which can take a toll on a nurse's weight. We want to empower you to transform your health and personal image by helping you maintain a healthy weight. We know that being overweight often leads to diabetes, heart disease, aching or broken bones. Eating certain foods can lead to inflammation and cancer. When you improve your health by eating better, you look great, but the effects go beyond your personal image. When nurses look healthy, our job of educating patients about how to become healthier becomes a whole lot easier. And the nursing profession as a whole can benefit from a healthier, more confident image! As nurses, we will be using nutrition science, an examination of our personal stories, and compelling media presentations to help you bring about weight loss to transform your life. We will not ask you to go hungry! Nor are we embracing any fad diet that is not maintainable. You will make the choices about what to eat, not us, but we can help guide you to healthier choices. The changes are possible. The strategists behind this program are Sandy and Harry Summers, co-authors of Saving Lives: WHy the Media's Portrayal of Nursing Puts Us All at Risk. They have created this plan for themselves over decades, developing significant knowledge of nutrition, tasty cooking, and exercise. They aren't young models, they are 50 somethings but their BMIs are 21 and 20 respectively, and have cholesterol, HDLs, LDL and triglyceride levels better than any their nurse practitioner has ever seen. They will help you find a healthy, painless, delicious diet that you will be able to sustain for life. They say if they can do it, you can too, and will inspire you to share their confidence in you! Join Sandy and Harry for 10 weeks in an online seminar where, as a supportive group, they will be joining you to explore eating, shopping, exercising, and sleeping habits. For about $10 per week, they’ll work with you to strategize about making painless but fundamental changes that can help you permanently transform how you feel and your body image. We are confident The Truth About Nursing's plan will work for you. But if it doesn't, and you do not feel and look healthier at the end of our 10-week body / mind / spirit transition, we'll guarantee the refund of all of your money. We might ask some questions about why, because we will want to know if something went wrong so we can improve our program, but we guarantee a refund if you feel it has not been a successful program for you. You know we are focused on the media here at the Truth About Nursing, so we will use compelling movies and other media as touchstones for discussion and exploration of our habits and our lives. A subscription to some DVD / streaming service, like Netflix, will be helpful. If you don't have that kind of service, we can loan you the DVDs, but we will need to ask for $14 per week instead of $9.99 to cover our costs of buying and shipping the DVDs. [would $3 cover that? or are there not that many DVDs overall? also, does it have to be Netflix?] Scroll down the page and sign up today and put your New Year's resolution into action! Please let us know if you have any questions at transform@truthaboutnursing.org. Once you join, we'll ask you to check in with us about your diet and your lifestyle, and in return we offer you personalized guidance about specific steps you can take to transform your body, your life and your health. We will also be having some group conversations online, where there will be ongoing discussions with others on the same track in the program (we will only use your first name, but please let us know if you would like to use an alias instead). To begin, we need the following 7 things emailed to us at transform@truthaboutnursing.org: 1) A full-size photo of you before you begin; we’d also request one at the end of your 10 weeks. 2) Your weight, if you know it, before you begin; we’d also request that at the end of the 10 weeks. 3) A log of everything you have had to eat and drink for the past day, few days or week. We will take as much information as you remember and are willing to share with us—confidentiality is guaranteed, we only care about your health—but please try to record everything (even what goes in your coffee and the ketchup on your sandwich). We will also be asking you to keep a daily food log so we can help guide you along the way. 4) Your sleep hours--how many hours and the time of day you sleep. 5) Your work schedule, hours and days. 6) Your exercise -- include exercise you get at work, and especially how many minutes you walk. If you have a device to count steps, please include that information. Please try to be as accurate as possible so we can help you! 7) $9.99 per week if you have Netflix with the DVD service, or $12.99 per week if you don't, payable below in one lump sum. If you would like us to spread these payments out every week, we can arrange for this by telephone at 410-323-1100. $99.90 (US) A 10-week plan to transform my health, life and wellness through weight loss $140 (US) Same life-transforming plan, but I do not have Netflix, so I will borrow the DVDs that we will be discussing to transform my health, life and wellness for the entire 10-week period [uh-oh - this borrowing bit sounds potentially problematic; we’d need some fine print, as I’m sure Netflix has, for what happens if they don’t send them back] The 10-week plan cost is fully refundable if at any point you decide our guidance has not helped you, though we ask you to stick with us for the whole 10 weeks before making that decision, because perseverance pays off and we want you to succeed. Now is the time for transition! Really, any time is, but now is where we are. For any questions, please contact us at transform@truthaboutnursing.org or 410-323-1100. All information is kept confidential. We do not sell or loan it to anyone. Please fill in your information below:

For millions of people worldwide, nurses are the difference between life and death, self-sufficiency and dependency, hope and despair. Yet a lack of true appreciation for nursing has contributed to a shortage that is one of our most urgent public health crises. The nursing shortage has claimed countless lives and threatens to overwhelm the world's health systems. It is no exaggeration to say that our future depends on a better understanding of nursing. We need your help to change the way society thinks about nursing. In our imperfect state of conscience and enlightenment, publicity and the collision resulting from publicity are the best guardians of the interest of the sick.
