| Dear Editor: Thank you very much for running Joel Dresang's excellent articles on nursing (Feb 22 and 23) so prominently. I especially enjoyed the profile of Jason Lichter, a post partum nurse. I understand that Mr. Dresang spent three days following nurses in preparation for writing his articles. It is unusual for the media to make that kind of effort to understand the nursing profession. Indeed, inadequate media treatment of nursing is an important factor in the current nursing shortage, which is one of our greatest public health problems. Articles like Mr. Dresang's can really help to improve the public's image of nursing and attract new nurses, which is why many nurses I know are so pleased with the articles. Thank you very much.
