Send a letter to Lionsgate about its damaging psycho-killer movie -- Nurse 3D !

Message:*	Dear Lionsgate Executives: I am writing to express concern about Nurse 3D, your new horror film that the media reports is about a sexy but vengeful nurse who targets "dishonest" men for "severe" punishment. Unfortunately, such imagery unites the nursing profession's naughty and battle-axe images into one unsavory package of sex and violence, and so it suggests that nursing is all about mindless feminine extremes, rather than important work for skilled health professionals of both genders. These stereotypes undermine real nurses' claims to adequate respect and resources. Perhaps you are not aware that we are in the midst of a global nursing shortage that kills many people every year. A key underlying cause of the shortage is lack of respect for nurses. When the public continues to see nurses in terms of stereotypes--like the naughty nurse who exists to have sex with people, or the sadistic battle-axe--nurses have a hard time getting the respect and resources they need to save lives. The lack of funding for nursing education, research, and clinical practice drives the nursing shortage. Then nurses can't give the quality or quantity of care that you or your loved ones need. They can't teach patients how to prevent or treat their illnesses, and they can't properly advocate for patients to prevent, for instance, surgeons chopping off the wrong leg. I hesitate to criticize media products that I have not seen, but it's hard to see how a film with the basic outline of Nurse 3D--and the promotional photo of a naked, blood-covered "nurse" De La Huerta--could avoid harming nursing. In fact, it's difficult to see how the film could be made less harmful to nursing without giving the main character a different job. I suggest she not have a job, or at least have one that is not plagued by these kinds of stereotypes. Even if you are not willing to do that, please consider minimizing the nursing element in Nurse 3D, try to show that the main character at least has some health skills, and make amends for the damage this film seems certain to cause, perhaps by making another movie to tell the public what real three-dimensional nurses do to save and improve lives.
